Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar has directed police across the province, including Karachi, to remain on high alert following the deadly suicide blast in Islamabad on Tuesday.
According to reports, at least 12 people were martyred and more than 20 sustained injuries in the explosion outside the Islamabad Katcheri. The blast occurred when around 35 to 40 people were in the area, damaging several nearby vehicles and motorcycles. Officials later confirmed that the fire caused by the explosion had been brought under control.
In a statement, the home minister strongly condemned the attack and said that terrorists and suicide bombers have no religion and are enemies of humanity. He assured that the Sindh government stands united against all forms of terrorism and violence.
Following the incident, the home minister ordered police authorities to tighten security measures across Sindh. He instructed law enforcement agencies to intensify surveillance at all entry and exit points of the province. Additional directives were given to ensure strict monitoring along highways, major roads, and adjoining routes to prevent any potential threats.
Lanjar also emphasized the need to strengthen intelligence operations, particularly in crime-prone areas and city outskirts. He urged close coordination between intelligence institutions and law enforcement agencies to improve response mechanisms and maintain public safety.
The Sindh home minister further ordered a comprehensive review of upcoming event security plans to ensure effective preparedness. He stressed the importance of increasing vigilance at toll plazas and other key locations to prevent any untoward incidents.
Authorities in Sindh have assured citizens that all necessary steps are being taken to maintain peace and security in the province following the Islamabad tragedy.
