Pakistan’s IT sector continues its upward momentum, achieving 17% year-on-year growth in October 2025, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). The country’s IT exports reached $386 million during the month, marking a 5% increase compared with September 2025.
The SBP reported that the average monthly IT exports over the past year stood at $332 million. From July to October 2025, total IT exports surged by 20%, reaching $1.4 billion. Experts described this as the highest monthly performance in the past 12 months.
For the current fiscal year, the government has set an IT export target of $5 billion, compared with $3.8 billion exported in the previous year. Analysts say the strong performance reflects growing global demand for Pakistan’s IT services.
Industry experts noted that Pakistani IT firms are increasingly focusing on enterprise resource planning (ERP), automation systems, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions. These advanced services are driving higher international demand and contributing to the sector’s growth.
Freelancers from Pakistan also play a vital role in the IT sector, earning foreign exchange by completing international projects on major global platforms. Their contribution helps boost overall IT exports while providing valuable experience in the global market.
Additionally, government-supported training programs and institutional capacity-building initiatives are helping young professionals enter the workforce. These programs are creating new employment opportunities and sustaining export growth.
With strong performance in both corporate IT services and freelance work, Pakistan’s IT sector is on track to achieve the government’s ambitious export targets. Continued investment in technology, talent development, and innovative solutions is expected to further strengthen the sector in the coming years.
