Former Pakistan cricket captain Azhar Ali has resigned from his positions on the Men’s National Selection Committee and as the PCB’s Head of Youth Development. Sources confirmed that Azhar Ali stepped down after serving less than a year in the youth development role.
Azhar Ali was appointed as the PCB’s Head of Youth Development on November 22, 2024, following a formal recruitment process. During his tenure, he oversaw programs aimed at nurturing young cricket talent across Pakistan. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not yet released an official statement regarding his resignation.
Earlier, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi praised Pakistan’s national cricket team for its recent strong performances. The team completed a 3-0 clean sweep against Sri Lanka in the ODI series, following a successful T20I series. Naqvi lauded the players, coaches, and support staff for their consistent efforts and teamwork.
“Well done boys! Congratulations to all the players on a brilliant clean sweep in the ODI series against Sri Lanka, after winning the T20I series as well,” Naqvi wrote on X. He emphasized the importance of fan support and acknowledged the behind-the-scenes dedication of the squad.
Azhar Ali’s departure comes at a time when Pakistan cricket is gaining momentum, showing promise in international matches. Fans and cricket analysts speculate that his exit might be linked to personal reasons or differences within PCB management, though no official explanation has been provided.
Despite Azhar Ali stepping down, Pakistan’s cricket setup continues to focus on youth development and strengthening the national team. The board remains committed to supporting emerging players and maintaining the country’s competitive edge in international cricket.
Azhar Ali’s contributions to Pakistan cricket, both on and off the field, are widely recognized, and his resignation marks a significant change in the PCB’s administrative lineup.
