All Banks to Remain Closed for Four Days During Eid ul Adha

In light of the upcoming religious festival of Eid ul Adha, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has declared that the central bank will be closed from June 29-30. Consequently, all commercial banks across the country will also remain closed for four consecutive days, namely Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The federal government has already approved a three-day holiday for Eid ul Adha.

The Cabinet Division issued a statement confirming the public holidays as follows:

– June 29 to 30, 2023 (Thursday and Friday) for offices observing a five-day working week.

– June 29 to July 1, 2023 (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) for offices observing a six-day working week.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, announced that the Zil Hajj moon had been sighted in Pakistan on Monday. This means that Eid ul Adha will be celebrated nationwide on June 29 (Thursday). Testimonies of moon sightings were received from various cities, including Karachi and Lahore, according to the chairman of the Ruet-e-Hilal committee.
