As anticipated by leaks, Apple has introduced new hardware through a press release, foregoing a media event. While no new iPads were unveiled, Apple introduced its latest MacBook Air laptops featuring the M3 chip.
This release holds significance for Apple, considering that the 13″ MacBook Air stands as the world’s top-selling laptop, with the 15″ MacBook Air claiming the title of the best-selling 15″ laptop globally.
In customary Apple fashion, the company refrains from comparing its latest hardware to the immediate previous generation, opting instead to benchmark against the model preceding it. According to Apple, the M3 MacBook Air delivers up to a 60% performance boost over the M1 and up to 13 times the speed of the fastest Intel-powered MacBook from nearly five years ago.

The Retina Display boasts “up to 2x the resolution of comparable PC laptops,” achieving brightness levels of up to 500 nits and supporting 1 billion colors. It also supports connectivity with up to two external screens even when the lid is closed. The battery life extends up to 18 hours.
Other notable features include Wi-Fi 6E support, two Thunderbolt ports for faster data transfer, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 1080p webcam, a trio of microphones, and a speaker system featuring Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos. Touch ID facilitates quick unlocking.
The M3 MacBook Air will be offered in four colors: midnight, starlight, space gray, and silver. Apple highlights that the midnight color variant includes an anodization seal to minimize fingerprints.
The 13″ model starts at $1099, while the 15″ variant will be priced at $1299. These laptops will be available for purchase in 28 countries starting March 8.
