Apple Plans OLED MacBook Pros and Upgraded MacBook Air Launch in 2026

According to industry analyst Jeff Pu from Haitong International Technology Research, Apple is planning to launch MacBooks with OLED screens in 2026.

While Apple is expected to eventually transition to micro-LED displays for MacBooks, the upcoming display upgrade is said to feature OLED panels. Initially, the OLED displays will be introduced on MacBook Pros before making their way to the more affordable MacBook Air, though the Air will reportedly receive OLED displays a few years after the Pro models.

Previous reports also indicated that Samsung Display would supply the OLED panels for Apple’s future laptops.

The advantages of OLED displays include deeper blacks, higher contrast ratios, and lower power consumption, contributing to improved battery efficiency. It’s worth noting that Apple’s current generation of MacBook Pro models features mini-LED displays, while the MacBook Air continues to use LCDs.

The introduction of micro-LED displays is also expected, with reports suggesting an upgrade to the Apple Watch Ultra in 2025, followed by integration into iPhones and iPads in subsequent years.
