London โ British Airways has announced major changes to its flight schedule as regional tensions continue to affect global air travel. The airline confirmed it will reduce services to several Middle East destinations once operations resume.
The company said British Airways will permanently stop flights to Jeddah. It will also reduce frequency on key routes including Dubai, Doha, and Tel Aviv. From July 1, these destinations will operate one daily flight only. Riyadh services will also be reduced from two daily flights to one starting mid-May.
The airline explained that the decision comes after ongoing disruption caused by heightened regional conflict. More than 21,000 flights were cancelled during the escalation of the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran. This situation has limited air corridors between Europe and Asia and created operational challenges for airlines.
As part of its network adjustment, British Airways is shifting capacity to other growing markets. The airline will increase flights to India and Africa, where demand remains strong. New daily services will be added to Bengaluru and Nairobi.
In addition, British Airways will boost frequency on existing routes to Delhi and Hyderabad. The airline said this strategy helps balance reduced demand in some regions while strengthening performance in others.
Officials stated that aircraft freed from Middle East routes will be used to support these expansions. The airline also confirmed it is monitoring the situation closely and maintaining contact with affected passengers.
โWe are keeping the situation under constant review and are directly in touch with affected customers to offer them a range of options,โ the company said in its statement.
The revised schedule will remain in effect throughout the summer season, which ends on October 24. One Dubai service is expected to restart on October 16.
