Cement despatches in Pakistan recorded strong growth during the first quarter of the current fiscal year, driven by higher domestic consumption and exports. According to data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), total cement despatches reached 12.161 million tons from July to September 2025, up 16.25 percent compared to 10.461 million tons in the same period last year.
Domestic sales rose to 9.573 million tons, reflecting an increase of 15.08 percent against 8.319 million tons during the same period last year. Export despatches also improved, climbing 20.81 percent to 2.589 million tons compared to 2.143 million tons in the previous year.
On a monthly basis, cement despatches continued to grow. After sharp increases in July and August, September 2025 recorded a 7.05 percent rise. Total cement despatches during the month stood at 4.250 million tons compared with 3.970 million tons in September 2024. Local sales were 3.418 million tons, showing an increase of 14.38 percent, while export despatches fell 15.25 percent to 831,966 tons from 981,646 tons last year.
Region-wise performance showed mixed results. North-based mills dispatched 3.162 million tons in September, up 16.41 percent, while south-based mills reported 1.09 million tons, down 13.23 percent. In domestic markets, north-based mills recorded 2.941 million tons, up 17.02 percent, while south-based mills posted only a marginal increase of 0.41 percent.
For exports, north-based mills saw an 8.84 percent increase, while exports from the south fell by 21.54 percent. Overall, in the first quarter, north-based mills dispatched 8.672 million tons, a rise of 14.78 percent, while south-based mills increased by 20.07 percent to 3.489 million tons.
An APCMA spokesman said the growth in cement despatches could be even higher if the government reduced duties and taxes. He added that reconstruction needs after recent floods would drive further demand, provided policy support is extended.
