ISLAMABAD β Federal Economic Affairs and Establishment Division Minister Ahad Cheema has directed officials to ensure the early opening of the first ASAN Khidmat Centre in Islamabad. The project is aimed at revolutionising public service delivery across the country.
The initiative follows a recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Pakistan and Azerbaijan to replicate Azerbaijanβs successful citizen-focused service model. During a detailed briefing, the Ministry of IT and Telecom explained the projectβs progress. The centre will be developed with the support of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), NADRA, Islamabad Police, and other key organisations. Minister of State for IT, Shaza Khawaja, also joined the meeting along with senior government representatives.
The ASAN Khidmat Centre will function as a one-stop hub for over 100 essential services. These will cover every stage of life, from birth registration to death certificates. Services from NADRA, Islamabad Police, CDA, DRAP, FBISE, NH&MP, Excise and Taxation, SNGPL, FBR, IESCO, the Passport Department, and the Deputy Commissionerβs Office will be available under one roof. To increase usefulness, the early opening will also include services from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs such as document attestation.
Cheema directed all departments to submit final recommendations within a week to speed up the launch. He underlined the need to follow international best practices and benefit from Azerbaijanβs technical expertise. The CDA and Ministry of IT have been tasked to finalise the procurement plan without delay.
βThe ASAN Khidmat Centre will make service delivery efficient and convenient for citizens,β Minister Cheema said. He added that the governmentβs goal is to achieve world-class standards in governance.
The projectβs early opening is expected to provide citizens with faster, easier access to vital services, setting a new benchmark for public service delivery in Pakistan.
