ISLAMABAD – Kazakhstan’s Ambassador Yerzhan Kistafin calls on Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and trade cooperation. The meeting focused on enhancing connectivity, institutional collaboration, and business facilitation between the two countries.
During the meeting, the dignitaries deliberated on the initiation of direct flights between Pakistan and Kazakhstan. Abdul Aleem Khan highlighted that improving mutual connectivity is a top priority to increase trade volume. The minister also announced that Kazakhstan’s business community will receive two-year visas within 24 hours from Pakistan. A proposal is being considered to issue five-year multiple-entry visas to chamber of commerce members to enable seamless business travel.
The envoy calls for organizing a Business Forum in Lahore were well received. Ambassador Kistafin confirmed that joint business meetings will also be held in major Pakistani cities to further boost trade relations. Similar to Karachi, Lahore will host a business forum to enhance bilateral commerce. The discussion also reviewed Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and ministerial visits to Pakistan.
Abdul Aleem Khan shared that he will represent Pakistan at the upcoming Global Transport Conference in Kazakhstan. Ambassador Kistafin expressed Kazakhstan’s interest in developing a trade corridor to Pakistan using its own resources. Various routes through Afghanistan, China, and Iran are under consideration to make the initiative viable.
Both officials exchanged views on the current regional situation and potential challenges. Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized that both countries have significant untapped potential and practical steps must be taken to realize these opportunities.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with the envoy calls reinforcing the commitment of both nations to deepen economic, trade, and transport cooperation. Strengthening connectivity and facilitating business travel are expected to play a key role in boosting Pakistan-Kazakhstan trade ties.
