The gold market in Pakistan witnessed a significant surge on Monday, as the gold price crosses a record level in domestic trading. According to the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association, the price of 24-karat gold per tola rose by Rs5,900 to Rs403,600, up from Rs397,700 the previous day.
Similarly, the price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold increased by Rs5,058 to Rs346,021, while 10 grams of 22-karat gold climbed to Rs317,197 from Rs312,560. The rise reflects growing demand and fluctuations in the international gold market, where prices also increased by $59 to $3,818 from $3,759.
Experts said that rising global inflation and market uncertainties are pushing investors toward gold as a safe haven. With such trends, the gold price crosses critical levels, attracting both retail and institutional buyers.
Meanwhile, silver prices also saw modest gains. The price of silver per tola increased by Rs88 to Rs4,792, and 10 grams rose by Rs76 to Rs4,108. Internationally, silver moved up by $0.88 to $46.93 from $46.05.
In currency news, the Pakistani rupee gained 2 paisas against the US dollar in interbank trading, closing at Rs281.35. The Forex Association of Pakistan reported open market rates of Rs282.45 for buying and Rs282.50 for selling the dollar.
Other foreign currencies also saw changes. The Euro rose by Rs1.06 to close at Rs329.64, the British Pound increased by Rs2.03 to Rs377.85, and the Japanese Yen went up by 2 paisas to Rs1.89. The Emirates Dirham remained steady at Rs76.60, while the Saudi Riyal fell slightly to Rs75.01.
Analysts note that fluctuations in gold and silver prices, alongside foreign currency movements, reflect a mix of domestic and international economic pressures. The trend indicates growing investor interest in precious metals as a hedge against currency volatility.
With the current momentum, the gold price crosses new highs, continuing to draw attention from traders and investors alike.
