ISLAMABAD β The federal government has increased the prices of re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) for September by up to 2.63 percent. The hike will impact consumers of both Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC).
According to a notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra), the rise in RLNG prices is linked to higher terminal charges. For SNGPL consumers, the transmission price has climbed 2.36 percent to $11.2365 per million British thermal units (MMBtu). The distribution rate has also gone up 2.38 percent to $12.0127 per MMBtu compared with August 2025.
Similarly, for SSGC consumers, the transmission price has increased 2.62 percent to $9.8619 per MMBtu. The distribution rate has moved up 2.63 percent to $11.0105 per MMBtu. The revised prices cover terminal charges, transmission losses, port handling costs, and margins for Pakistan State Oil (PSO), the state-run LNG importer.
The weighted average sale prices were based on eight LNG cargoes imported by PSO under long-term supply agreements with Qatar. Under these contracts, five cargoes were received at 13.37 percent of Brent crude prices, while three were priced at 10.20 percent.
Ogra explained that the price revision was carried out in line with government policy guidelines. It factored in the cost of LNG imports, re-gasification, and associated infrastructure expenses.
RLNG plays an important role in Pakistanβs energy supply, especially during times of domestic gas shortages. Officials stated that monthly price adjustments are necessary to align domestic rates with global market movements and currency fluctuations.
The revised RLNG prices will remain in effect throughout September and are expected to be reassessed next month, depending on international energy market conditions.
