Islamabad Court Issues Arrest Warrants for 16 Housing Societies Over CDA Dues

Islamabad Court Issues Arrest Warrants for 16 Housing Societies Over CDA Dues

The Islamabad Court has issued arrest warrants for operators of 16 housing societies over unpaid dues of Rs. 1.8 billion owed to the Capital Development Authority (CDA).

Senior Special Magistrate Sardar Mohammad Asif ordered the concerned Station House Officers (SHOs) to arrest the accused individuals and present them before the court on May 14.

According to officials, the CDA Housing Directorate moved the case to the court after several housing societies failed to clear outstanding payments. These payments reportedly included extension fees and commercialization charges.

The housing societies named in the case include Bahria Town, Bahria Paradise Commercial Scheme, Capital Enclave Housing Scheme, Gulberg Residencia Housing Scheme, Jeddah Town, OPF Housing Scheme, River Garden, Senate Avenue, Soan Garden, Margalla View, Multi Garden-I, and Roshan Pakistan Corporation Housing Scheme. Other societies were also included in the court proceedings.

A court official stated that the Islamabad Court completed all legal procedures before issuing the warrants. The official added that the societies were given enough time to settle their dues before strict action was taken.

The official further explained that the warrants may not directly target owners of the housing societies. Instead, they are likely meant for finance officials or individuals responsible for handling payments and financial matters.

The case also raised questions regarding Malik Riaz, linked with Bahria Town. However, officials clarified that the action mainly concerns people managing financial affairs within the societies.

Authorities said the main objective of the CDA is to recover pending payments. Officials indicated that further legal action could be avoided if the societies clear their outstanding dues promptly.

The latest development comes during a broader crackdown on illegal and defaulting housing projects in Islamabad. Recently, the CDA released a public notice identifying 99 illegal housing societies operating in the capital city.

The authority also advised citizens to remain careful before investing in housing projects lacking legal approval. Officials warned that investments in unauthorized societies could expose buyers to financial risks and legal complications.
