NBP and 1LINK Hold Digital Payments Session to Boost Cashless Banking

The NBP has partnered with 1LINK to organize a Bank Activation Session at its Head Office in Karachi. The event aimed to improve the understanding of digital payments and strengthen efforts to promote cashless banking across Pakistan.

The session brought together senior leadership, regional teams, and banking professionals. It focused on increasing awareness of digital banking services and improving customer experiences through secure payment solutions.

During the event, participants received detailed information about NBP Debit Cards. The training covered the cardsโ€™ features, benefits, and practical use in everyday banking. Officials explained how card-based transactions can make payments faster, safer, and more convenient for customers.

The session also highlighted the growing importance of digital payments in Pakistan. Organizers said wider use of debit cards can help reduce reliance on cash while encouraging modern banking practices.

Speaking at the event, Group Chief Digital Banking of the National Bank of Pakistan, Adnan Nasir, said NBP considers digital payment adoption essential for financial inclusion and national economic growth. He added that the Bank Activation Sessions will help banking teams better understand digital products and improve customer service.

According to him, well-trained staff can guide customers more effectively and encourage them to use digital banking services with confidence. He said this approach will help translate the bankโ€™s digital vision into better everyday banking experiences.

The event was organized in collaboration with 1LINK, Pakistanโ€™s leading payment and financial switch. The company plays an important role in supporting the countryโ€™s digital payment infrastructure.

Chief Executive Officer of 1LINK, Najeeb Agrawalla, said the partnership with NBP is important for expanding Pakistanโ€™s digital payments ecosystem. He added that 1LINK will continue working with its banking partners to strengthen payment infrastructure and promote a cashless economy.

The Bank Activation Session was attended by senior executives from both organizations. Participants included Group Chief Operations Faisal Ahmed, Officiating Group Chief Retail Banking Group Zahir Khursheed, and Acting Group Chief Information Technology Ausaf Ahmed.

Senior officials from the National Bank of Pakistanโ€™s Head Office, regional offices, and Karachi Region Teams also took part in the training. The discussions focused on improving knowledge, increasing digital payment adoption, and enhancing banking services for customers.

Pakistanโ€™s digital economy continues to grow as more people adopt online and card-based payment methods. Banks are introducing new services to improve accessibility, security, and convenience for customers across the country.
