RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Navy ships have seized more than 2,800 kilograms of narcotics in the Arabian Sea.
The drugs were valued at approximately $750 million, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The operation was conducted as part of ongoing efforts against illegal maritime trafficking. Pak Navy ships HUNAIN and YARMOOK took part in the operation.
According to ISPR, the ships were conducting a routine patrol in the Arabian Sea. During the patrol, they intercepted a suspicious boat.
Naval personnel then carried out a boarding operation. They searched the vessel and discovered concealed compartments.
The compartments contained a large quantity of narcotics. More than 2,800 kilograms of drugs were recovered during the operation.
The seizure represents a major counter-narcotics operation at sea. Authorities said the operation demonstrated continued maritime vigilance.
Naval Chief Commends Personnel
Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff, praised the officers and crew involved.
He appreciated their professionalism and vigilance during the operation. He also reaffirmed the navy’s commitment to maritime security.
The naval leadership stressed the importance of preventing illegal trafficking through Pakistan’s maritime areas.
The Pak Navy regularly conducts patrols to monitor maritime activity. Such operations also aim to counter illicit activities at sea.
The latest seizure highlights the role of naval forces in maritime law enforcement. The operation was conducted during a routine patrol.
Security Operations in Balochistan
The development came as security forces continued operations against militants in Balochistan.
According to ISPR, security forces have killed 33 India-backed militants since September. The operations were conducted against militants described by the military as “Fitna al-Khawarij.”
Five militants were killed on September 24 during Operation Shaban. ISPR said the operation was conducted in Balochistan.
The military said 22 militants have so far been killed during Operation Shaban. Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from militant hideouts.
In a separate intelligence-based operation, security forces targeted a hideout in Nushki. The operation was conducted on September 25, 2026.
According to ISPR, 11 militants were killed during the operation. Security forces also effectively targeted their hideout.
Clearance operations in the area will continue, the military said. Authorities said operations would continue until the security threat is eliminated.
The military also stated that operations against what it called foreign-sponsored terrorism would continue.
