Pakistan Stock Market Extends Bullish Momentum with 457-Point Gain

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued its upward trend on Wednesday as the benchmark KSE-100 index gained 457.27 points. This marked a positive change of 0.29 percent, taking the index to 157,020.80 points compared to 156,563.53 points on the previous trading day.

Trading activity in the stock market remained strong, with 996.27 million shares exchanged, though slightly lower than the 1.06 billion shares traded earlier. The total value of shares stood at Rs52.72 billion, down from Rs55.19 billion in the previous session.

Out of 486 companies that traded during the day, 226 recorded gains, 227 saw losses, and 33 remained unchanged.

Top trading companies
WorldCall Telecom led the volume chart with 75.54 million shares at Rs1.56 per share. It was followed by Bank of Punjab, which traded 72.46 million shares at Rs18.68 per share, and K-Electric Limited with 61.34 million shares at Rs5.60 per share.

Major gainers and losers
PIA Holding Company Limited posted the highest increase in share value, rising by Rs1,009.50 to close at Rs25,666.00. Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited followed with a gain of Rs62.11 per share, closing at Rs9,577.11.

On the other hand, Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited recorded the biggest decline, dropping by Rs118.27 to close at Rs32,198.98. Bhanero Textile Mills Limited also saw a fall of Rs54.26, ending the day at Rs945.74.

Market outlook
Analysts noted that the stock market is showing resilience, with investor confidence supported by positive economic signals and sectoral activity. However, trading volumes remain sensitive to global and local market conditions.

The consistent momentum indicates cautious optimism among investors, with the stock market likely to remain active in the coming sessions.
