The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued its bullish momentum on Friday, with the benchmark 100-index surging by 2,976.92 points. The index closed at 162,257.01 points, up 1.87 percent, compared to 159,280.09 points on the previous trading day.
Market activity also saw a notable rise. A total of 1.71 billion shares were traded, with a value of Rs70.74 billion. This was higher than Thursday’s 1.67 billion shares valued at Rs55.27 billion.
During the session, 484 companies traded their shares at the PSX. Out of these, 228 companies recorded gains, 230 witnessed declines, while 26 remained unchanged.
WorldCall Telecom led trading volumes with 450.58 million shares at Rs1.85 per share. K-Electric Limited followed with 112.63 million shares at Rs7.13 per share, while Cnergyico PK secured the third spot with 73.63 million shares at Rs8.81 per share.
Among the top gainers were Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited, which jumped by Rs911.15 to close at Rs10,506.10, and Sapphire Textile Mills Limited, which rose by Rs128.91 to Rs1,422.08.
On the other hand, PIA Holding Company Limited was the major loser, falling by Rs1,353.22 to close at Rs26,689.60. Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited also declined by Rs148.99, finishing at Rs32,308.01.
In the futures market, activity remained strong. A total of 633.77 million shares were traded, compared to 557.60 million shares a day earlier. The total value reached Rs35.93 billion, up from Rs27.11 billion. Out of 328 futures companies, 195 gained while 133 posted losses.
Analysts said the strong rally at PSX reflects investor confidence, improved liquidity, and positive market sentiment driven by economic developments.
