Heavy Machinery Shift Balochistan As Hub For Belarus Tractor Assembly

Thatta Cement Company Limited (THCCL) has announced a significant business expansion as it moves into the agricultural machinery sector. The company revealed that its wholly owned subsidiary, Minsk Work Tractor & Assembling (Private) Limited, has signed an exclusive agreement with OJSC Minsk Tractor Works, a Belarus-based manufacturer, to assemble and locally produce Belarus tractors in Balochistan, Pakistan.

In a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), THCCL said the agreement grants its subsidiary exclusive rights to assemble Belarus tractors within the province. The company described the deal as a major milestone in diversifying its business operations and promoting industrial growth in the region.

According to industry reports, Pakistan is preparing to locally assemble 57–80 horsepower Belarus tractors, a move seen as a boost for the country’s agricultural and industrial development. These tractors, produced by Minsk Tractor Works since 1950, are known for their durability, simple design, and ease of maintenance. Over the years, they have been exported to more than 100 countries and upgraded with modern features to meet global standards.

Experts estimate a strong market potential of around 2,800 tractor units in the next five years, driven by rising demand for mechanized farming and improved crop productivity.

THCCL stated that the new project will encourage technology transfer, create employment opportunities, and support local industrialization in Balochistan through the establishment of a dedicated tractor assembly facility.

β€œThe agreement represents a key strategic step for our subsidiary and is expected to positively impact the long-term growth and diversification of the Thatta Cement Group’s portfolio,” the company said.

Incorporated in 1980, Thatta Cement Company Limited is primarily engaged in cement manufacturing and marketing. It also owns Thatta Power (Private) Limited and continues to explore opportunities to expand its business footprint beyond cement production.
