After seventeen years of the previous curriculum, which was notified in 2006, the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Education Government of Pakistan released a notification on approval of the National Curriculum of Pakistan.
Curriculum development for grades 9 through 12 was done in an inclusive manner. The new syllabus will be implemented in 2024 for classes 9 and 11, and in 2025 for classes 10 and 12.
All stages of curriculum preparation were overseen by relevant parties. An intensive consultation process was carried out with stakeholders from across Pakistan, including policymakers, academics, practitioners, parents, and students.
Not only were policy discussions held across Pakistan for this reason, but a number of curriculum workshops were also arranged to gather feedback from those involved. Furthermore, everyone involved was invited to provide input through an online portal.
