Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb met with Keith Svendsen, CEO of APM Terminals, accompanied by Ambassador Jakob Linulf and representatives from APM Terminals, at the Finance Division today.

The minister began the discussion by expressing gratitude to the Danish Government for its support, particularly highlighting the grant for flood-affected communities in 2022 and the $3.8 million grant pledged during the Geneva pledges. He emphasized the importance of leveraging this support to strengthen economic ties between Pakistan and Denmark.

Aurangzeb briefed the representatives on the government’s reform agenda, expressing optimism that Pakistan’s reform efforts would boost business confidence and attract investments. He reiterated the government’s commitment to creating a conducive business environment and expressed interest in exploring potential projects and investments with APM, particularly in the maritime sector.

Svendsen conveyed APM Terminals’ readiness to engage with the government on ongoing and future projects in Pakistan. He expressed confidence in the Pakistani market’s potential and affirmed the company’s commitment to enhancing its investment and operations to support the country’s trade and development goals.

The discussion also addressed the need for improvements in customs rules and regulations to facilitate efficient maritime affairs execution. The Finance Minister assured his support in addressing these concerns. Both sides underscored the importance of continued dialogue and collaboration between the public and private sectors to further strengthen economic ties. The meeting was attended by the Secretary of Maritime Affairs, representatives from APM Terminals, and senior officers from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the Finance Division.
