Eight people have tragically lost their lives in a fire that broke out in an office building in Fryazino, a city near Moscow, on Monday, as reported by Russian emergency services. The incident occurred in an eight-storey former Russian electronics research institute. Two individuals jumped from the upper floors to escape the flames, while at least six others perished inside the building.
The fire, which started on the fifth floor and spread to the seventh, prompted a response from over 130 firefighters and 50 vehicles. Video footage from the scene showed thick black smoke engulfing the building and flames roaring up its exterior walls. Despite efforts to rescue individuals trapped on higher floors, some were unable to evacuate.

The Russian Emergency Ministry deployed fire engines and helicopters to battle the blaze, which affected an area of 5,000 square meters. Structural collapse of interior components and explosions from gas canisters further complicated the firefighting efforts.
“The operation to extinguish the fire is challenging due to the presence of gas-air mix canisters inside the building”.
Situated approximately 15.5 miles (25 km) northeast of Moscow, the building housed several companies. The incident highlights the severe impact of the fire on both human lives and property, underscoring the urgency and complexity of the rescue and firefighting operations conducted by emergency responders.
