Former cricketer Basit Ali has accused Australia of ball-tampering in the World Test Championship (WTC) final against India.

Basit was concerned about the ball’s unusual movement and shine location, particularly during the dismissals of the Indian batting order on the second day.

Basit, who played 19 Tests for Pakistan, explained that when the shiny part is on the outside, the ball swings towards the slips of right-handed batters.

The right-handed hitter went on to say that Mitchell Starc’s ball to dismiss Virat Kohli had the shiny portion on the outside, but it swung in against expectations.

Basit chastised the on-field umpires as well as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for failing to identify what he saw as a clear example of ball tampering.

It is worth noting that, despite establishing an impressive total of 469 runs, the Australian bowling attack came out strong on day two, reducing India to 151-5 by stumps.

Pat Cummins took the first blood by dismissing Rohit Sharma, while Scott Boland and Cameron Green demonstrated their abilities by dismissing Shubman Gill and Chiteshwar Pujara, respectively
