Four People Arrested After Indian Man Shot Dead In Canada

Yuvraj Goyal, a 28-year-old man from Ludhiana, Punjab, was fatally shot in Surrey, Canada, on Friday. He arrived in Canada in 2019 on a student visa and recently obtained Canadian Permanent Resident status.

Yuvraj, employed as a sales executive, is the son of Rajesh Goyal, who operates a firewood business, and Shakun Goyal, a homemaker. The Royal Canadian Police are investigating the motive behind Yuvraj’s murder, as he had no prior criminal record.

The incident occurred on June 7 at 8:46 am when Surrey Police responded to a shooting report in the 900-block of 164 Street in Surrey, British Columbia. Upon arrival, officers found Yuvraj’s body and arrested four suspects.

Manvir Basram (23), Sahib Basra (20), Harkirat Jhutty (23), and Keilon Francois (20) from Ontario, were charged with first-degree murder on Saturday.

“We appreciate the efforts of the Surrey RCMP, Air 1, and the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team (IERT), but there is still more work to be done. Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) investigators are committed to determining why Mr. Goyal was the victim of this homicide,” said Sergeant Timothy Pierotti.

Although the shooting appears to have been targeted, Sergeant Pierotti noted that the reasons for Yuvraj’s killing are still being investigated.
