Get ready to get messages directly from satellite

With its latest generation of iPhones, Apple popularized satellite messaging by allowing you to send out emergency SOS signals while you are not in range of WiFi or cellular connections. Samsung will also shortly announce its satellite messaging service.
Google, on the other hand, has its own plans in the works, allowing everyone to take benefit of the new feature. The search engine giant intends to add satellite SMS functionality to all phones running Android 14, providing they have the necessary hardware.

Following its initial release, the feature will first be available on Samsung and Pixel phones before expanding to other Android phones. This development is not surprising given that Samsung’s Galaxy S22 Ultra previously attempted satellite calling.
For the time being, the scope of Android 14’s satellite messaging remains unknown. It is also worth noting that every Android phones are made differently, so some OEMs may not have satellite messaging at all, despite running the most recent version of Android.
The official release of Android 14 is also not far away. It will, as usual, make its debut alongside Google’s next-generation Pixel phones, which are slated to be released in October of this year.
Speaking of Google Pixel 8 phones, they are expected to include the company’s own Tensor G3 processor, which will be supplied by TSMC rather than Samsung this time.
