Deputy Commissioner Shoaib Abbas has announced a 90-day ban on e-cigarettes, vapes, and related nicotine products in Haripur district, effective from September 6, 2024, under Section 144.
The restrictions include prohibiting these products in public transport, public spaces, and within 100 meters of schools, colleges, hospitals, and parks. Promotion and sale to individuals under 21 are also banned.

Additionally, the Sindh government has imposed a ban on items used for drug consumption, such as pipes and roach clips, following orders from Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon.
Local police are authorized to enforce this ban and register cases under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
In other news, the Senate Standing Committee on Science and Technology has approved Pakistan’s first Cannabis Authority Bill after a four-year delay, though there were disagreements over its details and the review process during the committee meeting.
