Lahore Schools and Colleges Reopen Despite Ongoing Air Pollution Concerns

Despite school closures and stringent lockdown measures, the efforts seem to have had little impact as Lahore and its neighboring areas still grapple with dangerously high levels of air pollution.

Despite the city’s population of over 22 million, the air quality remains a significant concern despite the strict measures such as market closures and restrictions on vehicles along the city’s central Mall Road.

While educational institutions in the city have reopened, residents continue to contend with the persistent air pollution.

The morning air quality index hovers around 500 in the provincial capital, with Cantonment, Gulberg, and Johar Town emerging as the most heavily polluted areas.

In response, students are dutifully wearing masks as mandated when outside these establishments, highlighting the community’s commitment to safety amidst these challenging air quality conditions.
