Polio Drive Targets Gaps as Districts Told to Track Mobile Populations

Polio

In a renewed push against polio, the national eradication programme has urgently requested all districts to submit detailed data on mobile and migrating populations. This step aims to ensure that no child is missed during immunisation drives, especially in high-risk areas.

The directive came during a key review meeting chaired by Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Coordinator Adeel Tasawar, where polio officers from 36 districts joined via video link. Authorities were told to immediately gather and report population movement data.

Tasawar emphasized the need to identify underperforming union councils. A thorough analysis will be conducted, and the findings must be promptly shared with the polio programme for corrective action.

Officials were also ordered to enhance the effectiveness of polio workers to close any remaining gaps in coverage. The move is part of a broader strategy to tackle the last pockets of resistance in the ongoing battle against polio.
