LAHORE, Pakistan — On Saturday, the current monsoon wave will impact numerous Punjab towns, including the province capital Lahore, delivering relief from the hot and humid weather.
As the current monsoon period takes hold, different portions of the city have seen severe rains with thunder since early this morning, drowning some low-lying regions.

Heavy rain was reported in Gulshan Ravi, Samnabad, Mall Road, Wahdat Colony, Joray Pul, and Ferozepur Road, while Mughalpura, Canal Road, Nishtar Town, Harbanspura, Gulberg, Defence, Qaddafi Stadium, Model Town, Kot Lakhpat, Faisal Town, and Johar Town received less rainfall.
Following the severe rain, more than 95 LESCO feeders tripped, producing a power outage in the city while the power supply remained interrupted.
LESCO authorities warned the public to avoid electric polls and high-tension power wires.
Heavy rains may cause flash floods in Dera Ghazi Khan, northeast and south Balochistan (Zhob, Barkhan, Kohlu, Sibbi, Naseerabad, Musa Khel, Sherani, Harnai, Bolan, Loralai, Khuzdar, Lasbella, Kech, Turbat, Panjgur, Awaran and neighboring regions), according to the Met Office.
The fresh advisory said downpour may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas and flash flooding in Lahore, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Charsadda, Mardan, Nowshera, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Narowal, Sialkot, Lahore, Kasur and Faisalabad on 29th July and may trigger landslides in the vulnerable areas of Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan and hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the period.
Monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea are infiltrating the country’s upper reaches. A westerly wave is also prevalent over the upper and central parts of the country, according to the forecast.
