India has introduced stricter penalties to combat exam cheating, with those responsible for leaking papers facing up to a 10-year prison term. The government has enacted the Public Examination Act 2024 to prevent cheating and paper leaks.
According to the new law, individuals caught cheating or leaking exam papers could be imprisoned for up to 10 years and fined up to 10 million Indian rupees.

The legislation applies to all public exams, stipulating that possession or exchange of exam materials could result in 3 to 5 years in prison and a fine of up to one million rupees. Additionally, those aiding in cheating or paper leaks may be denied bail, and facilitators will face legal action.
The primary objective of this new law is to uphold the integrity and fairness of examinations nationwide.
