Katy Perry Sold her Music Catalogue For $225 Million

The Carlyle Group subsidiary Litmus Music purchased the music library of American singer-songwriter Katy Perry for a record-breaking $225 million. All five of her studio albums, from 2008’s One of the Boys to 2020’s Smile, which were released through Capitol Records, are covered under the agreement, along with her share of the master recordings and publication rights. This includes multi-platinum singles like I Kissed a Girl, Teenage Dream, Firework, Hot ‘n’ Cold, and California Gurls.

This is the largest catalog deal in 2023 that will go to a single artist. Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, and Justin Bieber have all recently sold their music libraries for hundreds of millions of dollars.
