One reason 3 Idiots’ Sequel is happening now is due to a pause in director Rajkumar Hirani’s next project. Hirani and Aamir Khan had been working on a biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke, but delays in the script allowed Hirani to revisit an idea he had been considering for years. He reportedly took the time to shape the sequel into a complete screenplay and felt this was finally the right moment to move ahead.
