Dubai — Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has spoken openly about a difficult phase in his life. He shared how personal challenges led to alcohol use after his divorce from Reena Dutta.
In a recent interview on Duologue with Barun Das, Aamir Khan revealed that he was a complete teetotaller before the separation. He said his emotional state changed after Reena left with their children. This moment deeply affected him and marked a turning point in his life.
According to Aamir Khan, he had only consumed alcohol occasionally for film-related work before the incident. He clarified that he did not drink regularly at that time.
He explained that on the day of the separation, he struggled with loneliness and emotional stress. Alcohol available at home for guests became part of his coping response. That night marked the beginning of a difficult phase for him.
Aamir Khan shared that this period lasted for nearly one and a half years. He admitted that he drank almost a bottle every night during that time. He described this phase as unusual compared to his earlier lifestyle.
He also said this was one of the lowest points in his personal life. The emotional impact of the divorce played a major role in his behavior during those years.
Aamir Khan married Reena Dutta in 1986. They were together for 16 years before separating in 2002. The couple has two children, Ira and Junaid Khan.
After his divorce, Aamir Khan married filmmaker Kiran Rao in 2005. They later announced their separation in 2021 but continue to co-parent their son Azad.
In 2025, Aamir Khan introduced his partner Gauri Spratt publicly ahead of his 60th birthday. He has since appeared with her at several public events.
