The All-Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has condemned actress Tanushree Dutta’s remarks following the reported death of veteran actor Nana Patekar.
The association described her comments as insensitive and inappropriate. It also urged the actress to exercise restraint when speaking about a deceased person.
In a statement, AICWA president Er. Suresh Shyamlal Gupta criticised Dutta’s choice of words. He said her remarks were objectionable during a period of mourning for the veteran actor.
The association also expressed condolences to Nana Patekar’s family. It paid tribute to his contributions to Indian cinema and social welfare.
AICWA Criticises Tanushree Dutta’s Social Media Remarks
AICWA expressed strong disapproval of Dutta’s use of the phrase “Evil Dead” in a social media video.
The association said such language was inappropriate following the reported passing of a respected figure. It also highlighted Nana Patekar’s Padma Shri honour and his contributions beyond the film industry.
According to the statement, the actor had supported the country during the Kargil War. His Naam Foundation also helped families of farmers facing difficult circumstances.
The association said the film industry and the public were mourning his reported death. It urged people to show respect for the deceased and his grieving family.
AICWA further stated that public figures should consider their words during sensitive moments. It described Dutta’s remarks as contrary to basic human values.
Association Questions Actress’s Comments About Her Work Schedule
The association also criticised Dutta for discussing her professional commitments in the same context.
According to AICWA, the actress mentioned that she had a busy day planned. She also referred to travelling to Lucknow for an event.
The association questioned the relevance of these details during a period of mourning. It argued that the occasion called for sensitivity and respect.
AICWA urged Dutta to exercise caution in her public statements. It also expressed hope that similar remarks would not be repeated in the future.
The association concluded its statement by praying for the peace of Nana Patekar’s soul.
