The much-discussed relationship between Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai has once again returned to headlines. Ad filmmaker Prahlad Kakkar, who has known Rai’s family closely for years, has now spoken about the turbulent phase in her life.
Kakkar revealed that the end of her romance with Khan was a huge relief for the former Miss World. He claimed that the actor’s behavior during the relationship was obsessive and, at times, physically aggressive. According to him, Rai’s parents and close ones were equally relieved when the relationship ended.
“She was relieved about it. The break-up was a huge relief,” Kakkar said in a recent interview. He recalled witnessing disturbing incidents in their building, including Salman Khan creating public scenes and even harming himself in frustration.
While the breakup was difficult, Kakkar believes the real pain for Rai came from the film industry’s response. He explained that after her split, the Bollywood fraternity largely sided with Salman, leaving Rai isolated. “Her greatest hurt was being abandoned by the industry,” Kakkar said. He added that this sense of betrayal made her question her trust in Bollywood, despite her earlier dedication to her career.
The filmmaker described the situation as one-sided, saying Rai felt unfairly judged. Despite the personal relief she experienced, losing industry support left a lasting emotional impact on her.
Following the split, Rai was briefly linked with actor Vivek Oberoi before marrying Abhishek Bachchan in 2007. The couple now has a daughter, Aaradhya, and continues to remain one of Bollywood’s most prominent families.
Salman Khan, on the other hand, remains one of the industry’s biggest stars and continues to be counted among its most eligible bachelors.
This renewed focus on their past has once again highlighted the struggles Rai endured, and how Aishwarya Rai relief after breakup was tied not only to ending a troubled relationship but also to facing an unsupportive industry.
