Bollywood actor Akshaye Khanna appears in Border 2, but producers clarify his inclusion was planned from the start. Reports suggesting he joined the sequel after the success of Dhurandhar are inaccurate.
Indian media had speculated that Akshaye Khanna, who played Rehman Daku in the controversial film Dhurandhar, was added to Border 2 following Dhurandhar’s box office performance. Fans were excited by the possibility, fueling discussions on social media.
Border 2, the sequel to Sunny Deol’s iconic Border, released on January 23 and is currently breaking box office records in India. The film stars Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, and other notable actors. Toward the end, Akshaye Khanna appears alongside Suniel Shetty, Puneet Issar, and Sudesh Berry in a tribute scene honoring soldiers from the first Border film.
Short clips from this tribute sequence featuring Akshaye Khanna have gone viral online. The scene shows Sunny Deol’s character, Fateh Singh Kallar, paying homage to the martyrs of the original film, creating an emotional moment for audiences.
Producers and the filmmakers emphasized that the tribute scene, including Akshaye Khanna, was part of the original script. Co-producer Bhushan Kumar explained that the scene was written in advance and was not influenced by Dhurandhar’s success. Although the footage was filmed after Dhurandhar’s release, it was always an integral part of the story.
Director Anurag Singh confirmed that Akshaye Khanna shot his portion on December 10 and 11. He added that viewers who stay until the very end of Border 2 witness a special, memorable moment.
