Renowned Pakistani singer Ali Sethi has kicked off the year with two fresh singles, Tera Sitam and Maya, showcasing his signature blend of traditional and contemporary sounds. While Tera Sitam carries smooth, melodic arrangements, Maya takes a more introspective, ghazal-inspired approach, further cementing Sethi’s artistic evolution.

In an interview, Sethi reflected on his creative process, revealing that he wanted to experiment with unexpected sounds. He collaborated with producer Romil Hemnani and Urdu poet Sunayana Kachroo to craft the lyrical depth of Tera Sitam, a song centered on the pain of one-sided love. The track has received overwhelming praise from fans and critics alike.

Beyond his recent releases, Sethi has been making waves internationally, earning a Juno nomination for Love Like That, a collaboration with Indian singer Jonita Gandhi. He also confirmed that an upcoming album is in the works, describing it as more of a mehfil than a traditional album, inspired by qawwali and ghazal recitals from his Lahore upbringing.

Reflecting on his Coachella 2023 performance, Sethi addressed the mixed reactions to his Mughal jama, emphasizing the importance of authentic representation. Looking ahead, he remains focused on expanding South Asian music’s global footprint, encouraging artists to embrace free-spirited creativity.
