Pakistani actress Anzela Abbasi recently shared her thoughts on mental health, highlighting the importance of health therapy over ego for men.
In a podcast discussion, Abbasi noted that many men avoid seeking professional help. โI have not seen many men going to therapy,โ she said, stressing the need for greater awareness.
She explained that her husband, a practicing therapist, sees far more female clients than male. โThe majority of his clients are women, there are hardly two or three men. They need therapy more than women do,โ Abbasi remarked.
Abbasi pointed out that women tend to be more adaptable and open to learning. โWomen love to grow and see what the world has for us,โ she said, emphasizing the value of emotional development.
Men, however, often struggle with ego, which can prevent them from seeking help. Abbasi said, โMen have this ego where if Iโm right, then Iโm right,โ underscoring how pride can become a barrier to mental health.
She encouraged men to choose health therapy over ego, highlighting that professional help can improve relationships, personal growth, and emotional well-being. โPutting your ego aside and prioritizing mental health is a sign of strength, not weakness,โ she added.
Experts support Abbasiโs view, noting that stigma around male mental health prevents many men from seeking therapy. Studies indicate that early intervention through counseling and psychiatric support can prevent long-term emotional and psychological issues.
Abbasiโs remarks shed light on a growing conversation around gender and mental health in Pakistan. She urges men to embrace self-awareness and professional guidance instead of letting ego dictate decisions.
By advocating health therapy over ego, Abbasi aims to inspire men to confront their vulnerabilities, reduce stigma, and prioritize mental well-being in todayโs fast-paced world.
