Pakistani actress Arij Fatyma has shared details about her difficult health journey. The television star recently spoke about her unexpected cancer diagnosis during a podcast appearance.
Arij, who has a large following on social media, revealed that the ordeal began with what seemed like a routine medical check. She initially visited a clinic to confirm a possible pregnancy. Doctors asked her to return after seven weeks.
When she went back, the test was positive. However, the ultrasound showed no visible pregnancy. Doctors identified it as a blighted ovum, which is a non-viable pregnancy. She was given options for treatment and chose medication.
Soon after, she began to notice unusual symptoms. She had acne on her chin and abdominal pain. She also visited a water park during that time, unaware of the hidden danger. Later, doctors discovered a large cancerous sac in her ovaries. This marked the beginning of her cancer diagnosis journey.
A week later, she experienced severe bleeding during the Eid holidays. She was rushed to the hospital by her husband. Initially, a nurse suggested it was an infection and failed to detect the tumor.
After undergoing a painful D&C procedure, Arij received shocking news. Doctors informed her that she might have a rare type of cancer. The confirmation of the cancer diagnosis left her terrified and in shock. She immediately contacted her family for support.
Further tests, including a CT scan, were conducted to check if the cancer had spread. Thankfully, the scan showed that it had not. However, doctors decided to remove her uterus as a precaution. She also underwent light chemotherapy to prevent any further risk.
Arij said the sac removed was the size of a three-month pregnancy and could have burst at any time. She expressed gratitude for receiving timely treatment and for the support of a Pakistani doctor who guided her care.
