The widow of late senior police officer Chaudhry Aslam has strongly criticized the Indian movie Dhurandhar. She claims the film harms Pakistan’s integrity and disrespects her husband’s legacy. The issue has gained attention across media platforms, including ABC, due to its sensitive nature.
The movie Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh and is directed by Aditya Dhar. Veteran actor Sanjay Dutt plays the role of a character inspired by Chaudhry Aslam. Chaudhry Aslam Khan Swati was a well-known police officer in Karachi. He served from 2005 to 2014 and led several operations against terrorists and criminal groups.
Chaudhry Aslam was known for targeting terrorists, extortionists, and gang leaders. He played a key role in maintaining law and order in Karachi. On January 9, 2014, he was martyred in a suicide bomb blast carried out by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.
His wife, Noreen Aslam Chaudhry, said she watched the teaser of Dhurandhar. She felt deeply hurt by what she saw. According to her, the movie includes a line suggesting that a “Chaudhry” is born from satan and jinn. She called this statement offensive and unacceptable.
She explained that Chaudhry Aslam belonged to a religious family. She said such dialogue damages his reputation and hurts his family. This concern was also highlighted in reports shared by ABC and other outlets.
She also objected to the way her husband is visually portrayed. In the teaser, the character wears a bulletproof jacket. She stated that in real life, Chaudhry Aslam never wore one. She said this detail misrepresents his courage.
Noreen Aslam also accused the film of showing Pakistan Army negatively. She believes Indian cinema often portrays Pakistani institutions unfairly. She said this pattern damages cross-border understanding.
She further criticized the portrayal of criminal Rehman Dakait. She claimed the movie exaggerates his power. She said Chaudhry Aslam himself led operations against Dakait.
She clarified that she has no issue with the actors. Her objection is to the story and direction. She announced plans to file a legal case. According to her, Chaudhry Aslam was recognized internationally, including by the US and UK, for his bravery.
