Court Rejects Plea to Transfer TikToker Sana Yousuf Murder Trial

Court Rejects Plea to Transfer TikToker Sana Yousuf Murder Trial

The Islamabad High Court has rejected a request to shift the murder trial of Sana Yousuf to another court. The ruling directs that the case will continue in the same trial court.

Chief Justice Sarfaraz Dogar heard the petition filed by the accused, Umar Hayat. The accused had expressed lack of confidence in the trial judge and requested a transfer. However, the court dismissed the plea and ordered that proceedings will continue before Additional District and Sessions Judge Afzal Majuka.

The decision means that the Sana Yousuf case will move forward without any change in jurisdiction. Legal experts say such decisions are taken when the court finds no valid grounds for transfer.

Meanwhile, the trial court has continued hearing the case. During the latest hearing, the prosecution recorded the statement of another witness. Public prosecutor Raja Naveed Hussain Kiani appeared before the court and presented arguments.

The hearing could not be completed as planned. The defense counsel fell ill during cross-examination, forcing the court to adjourn proceedings. The next hearing has been scheduled for April 30.

The case relates to the murder of Sana Yousuf, a TikTok content creator, who was shot dead at her home in Islamabad’s Sector G-13 on June 2, 2025. The incident shocked many and gained widespread attention on social media.

Police acted quickly after the incident. The accused was arrested from Faisalabad within 20 hours. Authorities also recovered the alleged weapon used in the crime.

According to investigators, the accused had been trying to contact Sana Yousuf multiple times. Police believe the attack took place after the victim refused his advances.

Officials further stated that the accused confessed to the crime. The confession was recorded under Section 164, which is a formal legal statement before a magistrate.

The case continues to be closely followed due to its nature and public interest. Observers say the trial will be important in ensuring justice and maintaining public confidence in the legal system.
