Klara Kolouchova, a celebrated Czech mountaineer and the first woman from her country to summit Mount Everest, K2, and Kangchenjunga, has tragically died while attempting to scale Nanga Parbat on Friday.
According to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Diamir, Nizamuddin, Kolouchova fell from a height between Camp One and Camp Two during her ascent of the treacherous peak. A search operation, including helicopters, is currently underway to recover her body, but authorities are facing major obstacles due to the extreme altitude and harsh terrain.

Nanga Parbat, standing at 8,125 meters (26,660 feet), is the world’s ninth-highest mountain and is known as the “Killer Mountain” because of its challenging conditions and high fatality rate. Kolouchova had previously summited five 8,000-meter peaks and was regarded as a pioneering figure in global mountaineering.
Her attempt to add Nanga Parbat to her list of achievements ended in tragedy, leaving her long-held dream unfulfilled. In 2023, a Spanish climber also lost his life on the same mountain, highlighting its enduring risks even for experienced mountaineers.
