Rapper DDG has addressed backlash following his decision to gift his one-year-old son, Halo, a real Ferrari for his birthday. The 27-year-old artist, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., sparked controversy after revealing the lavish gift, surprising fans who expected a toy car instead.

DDG had initially asked his followers on X (formerly Twitter) for suggestions on a birthday gift, mentioning a Lamborghini, which led many to believe it would be a miniature version. However, the rapper revealed on Sunday that he had purchased an actual Ferrari for his son. The grand gesture was featured in a birthday celebration video on his YouTube channel, where Halo was seen playing with the steering wheel of the car.

The gesture garnered significant criticism online, but DDG hit back on X, stating that while other children play with toy cars, his son gets to enjoy a real Ferrari. He encouraged his critics to “just work harder gang,” further defending his decision.

DDG, known for his hit single “Moonwalking in Calabasas,” welcomed his first child with partner Halle Bailey on December 22, 2023.
