Bollywood star Deepika Padukone has voiced her frustration over the Academy Awards repeatedly snubbing Indian films and talent, stating that India has been “robbed of the Oscars many times.”
In a behind-the-scenes video from Paris Fashion Week, Deepika recalled the emotional moment when RRR’s Naatu Naatu won Best Original Song in 2023. She emphasized that many deserving Indian movies and artists have been overlooked by the Academy.

The video also featured critically acclaimed Indian films like Tumbadd, The Lunchbox, and Laapataa Ladies, none of which received Oscar nominations despite international praise. Deepika’s comments have reignited discussions about Hollywood’s lack of recognition for Indian cinema.
Deepika, who introduced Naatu Naatu at the Oscars, attended the Louis Vuitton show in Paris as the brand’s global ambassador. She was last seen in the sci-fi film Kalki 2898 AD and recently spoke at the Forbes 30/50 Global Summit.
