Cartoon Network Website Closed as Warner Bros, Discovery Shifts Attention to Max platform

CartoonNetwork.com, the website for the iconic TV channel, has been closed by Warner Bros. Discovery, with visitors now being redirected to the Max streaming service.

Previously offering free clips and episodes of Cartoon Network shows, the site now only highlights content available on Max, which requires a subscription for access.

Despite the website’s closure, Cartoon Network’s TV programming will continue unchanged. A spokesperson noted that the focus is now shifting to Cartoon Network’s shows and social media, where there is greater engagement and growth potential.

The site has been entirely removed from the internet, though some international versions remain operational, with their future still uncertain. This decision comes on the heels of the announcement that Boomerang, the company’s retro show service, will be discontinued on September 30.

The shutdown is part of a broader restructuring at Warner Bros. Discovery, which is also considering splitting its business. Recent changes include the cancellation of several projects.

Additionally, Warner Bros. Games is implementing cost-cutting measures, which may involve licensing out major franchises such as Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, and Batman. The company recently reported a $10 billion net loss earlier this week.
