Shannon Sharpe, Pro Football Hall of Famer and ESPN personality, faced both personal and professional embarrassment after accidentally broadcasting live audio of a sexual encounter to his 3.2 million Instagram followers.
In an emergency episode of his show “Nightcap,” Sharpe took responsibility for the incident, clarifying that his account was not hacked and that the mishap was due to his own actions.
“Obviously, I am embarrassed. As someone who is extremely private, having one of your most intimate moments— the audio—heard by the entire world is embarrassing for many reasons,” Sharpe admitted.

He stressed that his disappointment was not about the act itself, which he noted is something many consenting adults do, but rather about the exposure of such a private moment to the public.
The incident occurred when Sharpe, unfamiliar with the Instagram Live feature, accidentally activated it. “I threw my phone on the bed and engaged in an activity,” he explained. “I did not know how IG Live works because I’ve never turned it on, and suddenly, my other phone started going off.”
It was Jamie Fritz, his marketing partner, who alerted him about the live stream, leading to its termination by another person.
While Sharpe was serious in his apology, he and his guest, Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, managed to bring some humor to the situation. Johnson, who has known Sharpe for years, recounted previous instances of Sharpe’s tech mishaps and expressed his surprise at the incident, considering Sharpe’s typical professionalism.
