Farhan Saeed Surprises Fans with Announcement of His First Solo Album ‘Khat’ After 20 Years in Music

Beloved Pakistani singer and actor Farhan Saeed has thrilled fans with the announcement of his first-ever solo album, titled Khat, marking a monumental milestone in his two-decade-long music career.

The former Jal frontman revealed on social media earlier this week that Khat will officially release on November 14, describing it as a heartfelt reflection of his musical journey and connection with his audience.

“From cassettes to reels — 21 years later, I’m still writing to you. This one’s a KHAT… from my heart to yours,” Farhan wrote on Instagram, unveiling the album’s poster, designed by artist Umair Fayyaz.

An Album Two Decades in the Making

Farhan, who rose to fame in the early 2000s as the lead vocalist of the iconic Pakistani band Jal, has spent over 20 years shaping South Asia’s pop-rock sound. While he has released numerous singles over the years, Khat marks his first full-length solo album, and fans couldn’t be more eager.

The album will feature 10 tracks in both Urdu and Punjabi, blending soulful melodies with Farhan’s signature romantic and nostalgic themes. The project is being released globally through Warner Music and Silent Roar, representing one of the most significant international partnerships in Pakistani music this year.

Tracklist and Rollout

The album’s lead single and title track, “Khat,” will debut on November 14, coinciding with the album’s release. The remaining songs — Beparwah, Phul Ghulab Da, Manzar, Meri Maa, Ja Vey Mahiya, Ameer Ban Jaun, Tere Naal, Ye Kia Ho Gya, and Na Kar Majboor — will roll out gradually over the next several months.

Farhan also confirmed that four tracks will be accompanied by music videos, each directed by a different filmmaker to reflect diverse creative visions and storytelling approaches.

A Letter to the Fans

Speaking to Variety, Farhan expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of his listeners:

“Music has always been something I’ve lived,” he said. “I’ve been fortunate that audiences have always understood and connected with how I express myself through my songs. This album is inspired by my fans and their constant love. It’s a letter — a khat — from my heart to theirs.”

Fan Reactions and Expectations

Social media is already buzzing with anticipation, with fans calling Khat “the comeback Pakistan’s pop scene needed.” The album is expected to blend nostalgia from the Jal era with a more mature, introspective sound that reflects Farhan’s artistic evolution.
