Alongside the announcement, Netflix also disclosed that the third and final season will debut in 2025.

“The real game begins. Squid Game Season 2 arrives on December 26, with the final season coming in 2025,” Netflix announced in posts shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram accounts.

The posts included a nearly minute-long video, starting with a close-up of men and women sprinting on a packed track. As screams and falls fill the background, the camera shifts to reveal the Front Man, who says, “It’s been three years. Do you want to play a game?”

According to the official synopsis, “Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 (Lee Jung-jae) is determined to find those behind the deadly game and put an end to it. Using his winnings to fund the search, Gi-hun begins by tracking down the man in the sharp suit playing ddakji in the subway. But when his search finally pays off, the road to stopping the organization is more dangerous than he anticipated: to end the game, he must re-enter it.”

Season 1 of Squid Game is currently available on Netflix, along with its spin-off, Squid Game: The Challenge, a real-life competition series.
