Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s Stree 2 is making waves at the box office, breaking records and rising in the ranks of Hindi cinema’s top-grossing films.
Directed by Amar Kaushik and written by Niren Bhatt, this horror-comedy has now overtaken Baahubali 2 in Hindi box office collections, earning it the fourth spot among the highest-grossing Hindi films of all time.
In just three weeks, Stree 2 has amassed an impressive Rs503.25 crore, including Rs70.2 crore in its third week alone.
Early estimates from Sacnilk indicate that Stree 2 has surpassed Rs 516.40 crore. On its fourth Friday, the film added Rs 4.5 crore to its total, and another Rs 8.75 crore on Saturday. This achievement makes Stree 2 the ninth film to join the Rs 500 crore club, marking a significant milestone for Hindi cinema.
While it currently holds the ninth position among the highest-grossing Hindi films, Stree 2 is set to rise further and is nearing the eighth spot held by Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2, which has a lifetime collection of Rs 525.7 crore.
With less than Rs 9 crore remaining to surpass Gadar 2, Stree 2 is expected to reach that milestone by Monday, despite potential disruptions due to the ongoing Ganpati festival.
The film features a star-studded cast including Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurrana, and Pankaj Tripathi, with notable cameos from Varun Dhawan, Akshay Kumar, and Tamannaah Bhatia.
As Stree 2 continues its success, there are talks of a spin-off focusing on Shraddha Kapoor’s character and exploring her backstory. The movie is part of Dinesh Vijan’s Horror-Comedy universe, which will soon be expanded with a vampire-themed addition starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar.
