BHUBANESWAR โ Odia playback singer Humane Sagar, known for his soulful voice and chart-topping hits, passed away on November 17 at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. He was only 34 years old. His untimely death has left Odisha in deep mourning.
Top leaders, including Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, expressed heartfelt condolences. Governor Kambhampati wrote on X that he was โdeeply saddenedโ and praised Sagarโs contribution to Odia music. Chief Minister Majhi called his loss โirreparable,โ while Pradhan described Sagar as a โshining starโ whose voice will remain immortal in listenersโ hearts.
Former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also mourned the singer, describing his music as โsoulfulโ and cherished by countless fans.
Health Decline and Hospitalization
Humane Sagar had been hospitalized at AIIMS Bhubaneswar since October 14 in critical condition. Despite intensive care, his health deteriorated due to multiple complications.
Doctors diagnosed him with multiorgan dysfunction syndrome, acute-on-chronic liver failure, bilateral pneumonia, dilated cardiomyopathy, severe LV systolic dysfunction, acute kidney injury, refractory shock, severe respiratory failure, encephalopathy, thrombocytopenia, and coagulopathy.
AIIMS confirmed that Humane Sagar passed away at 9:08 pm on November 17, stating that he โdid not respond to treatment despite all aggressive care.โ
Legacy and Tributes
Fans revisited Sagarโs November 7 Instagram reel, where he performed โBhagya Rekhaโ inside a radio studio. The clip quickly went viral again as fans shared heartfelt messages like โRIPโ and โGone too soon.โ Two days before his death, Naveen Patnaik had posted a prayer for his recovery.
Born in Titlagarh, Bolangir district, Humane Sagar rose to fame with the title track of Ishq Tu Hi Tu. Over his career, he recorded hundreds of film songs and albums, including Niswasa, Bekhudee, Tuma Otha Tale, and Chehera (2017). He also released the Hindi album Mera Yeh Jahan.

Sagarโs body was taken to his native village, Denga, near Titlagarh in Bolangir district, where his last rites will be performed. The Odia music industry continues to grieve the loss of a singer whose voice touched millions and left a lasting impact on regional music and cinema.
