Kamakhaya Singh Criticizes Prakash Raj Amid Kerala Story 2 Controversy

Kamakhaya Singh Criticizes Prakash Raj Amid Kerala Story 2 Controversy

National Award-winning director Kamakhaya Singh has strongly criticized actor Prakash Raj over his comments on social media regarding the upcoming film The Kerala Story 2. The sequel is scheduled for release on February 27.

Singh described the film as revealing a “brutal truth,” while some critics have labeled it “propaganda.” The storyline explores alleged religious conversion and coercion, with events set in Kerala, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh.

The controversy escalated after Prakash Raj posted on X, contrasting the 2023 film with images of pork curry, beef fry, fish curry, and vegetarian Onam sadya. He wrote, “The real #KeralaStory is how pork, beef and fish coexist with vegetarian sadya and all of them live in harmony. Please relish #justasking happy Sunday everyone.”

In response, Kamakhaya Singh called Raj “intellectually bankrupt” during an interview with ANI. Singh expressed disappointment in Raj, saying, “I used to think that Prakash Raj ji was a very high-calibre actor, but now I feel that he is equally low as a human being.”

Singh also questioned the claims of forced beef consumption and conversion, stating, “I don’t know what he himself eats, nor do I care, because his statements reflect what he ‘consumes.’ But tell me—are our daughters really being forcefully fed beef and converted? If true, then I question Prakash Raj ji’s conscience. Civilised society will never accept forcing someone to eat beef to convert their religion.”

Producer Vipul Shah clarified that the film does not target Kerala. “Kerala is God’s Country… We want this evil in that state to be eradicated as soon as possible,” he said. Shah also addressed criticism of the first film, citing detailed data released on YouTube to support the figures used in the storyline.

Shah further claimed that the lack of government action since the first film motivated the sequel. “Some people criticized the first film, claiming the 32,000 figure was false. We made a video on this figure on YouTube, which is currently available. We’ve added the names and shown the figures. The government must have even more figures, but no strict action has been taken so far,” he explained.

The debate has drawn widespread attention online, with many discussing Kamakhaya Singh’s remarks and the film’s portrayal of sensitive social issues. The director emphasized that the purpose of the movie is to highlight alleged abuses, not to attack any community.

With the release date approaching, discussions around the film, Prakash Raj’s comments, and Kamakhaya Singh’s response continue to dominate social media conversations.
